Brief Role Summary:

The IT Support Technician is responsible for providing first-line technical support and maintenance for desktop and laptop computers, hardware, and software within the organization. This role focuses on resolving basic technical issues to ensure end-users can maintain productivity. This is a Junior Semi-Skilled position to be based at Kia Head Office, servicing the Head office, Parts Distribution Centre, Retail Head Office and IMF dealer network where required.

Key Areas of Responsibility.

  • Respond to helpdesk tickets, emails, and phone calls relating to IT support requests.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for end-users.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Assist with setting up new user accounts, email addresses, and access permissions.
  • Support the deployment of software updates, patches, and antivirus solutions.
  • Document issues, solutions, and work performed in the helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Escalate complex incidents to senior IT staff or relevant departments as required.
  • Provide basic technical training and guidance to users on standard applications and systems.
  • Maintain inventory records of IT equipment and assets.
  • Adhere to IT policies, procedures, and best practices, including data security protocols.

Qualifications and experience required

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Matric certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent; additional IT certifications advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and commonly used business applications.
  • Understanding of computer hardware components and basic networking concepts.
Prior experience in a similar IT support role is desirable but not required
