Reports to: IT Infrastructure & Operations Senior Manager
Based at/in: Bruma (Zulberg Close), Johannesburg

Position overall objective
The purpose of this position is to provide high-level technical advice and support a Microsoft Windows environment through design, implementation and support. The position will act as a specialist for Windows based infrastructure and services.

Job Outputs

• Design and architect server infrastructure solutions for enterprise environments (Windows, and hybrid).
• Lead the deployment, configuration, and optimization of physical, virtualized, and cloud servers.
• Oversee Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity management integration across environments.
• Manage high-availability, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Implement and maintain security controls, patch management, and compliance standards.
• Oversee and optimize virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware).
• Manage cloud-based workloads (Azure, M365) including hybrid integrations.
• Troubleshoot escalated issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide long-term fixes.
• Develop and enforce infrastructure standards, documentation, and change management practices.
• Mentor intermediate/junior engineers and guide cross-functional teams on technical best practices.
• Participate in IT strategy planning and contribute to capacity planning and future-proofing infrastructure.
• Ensure server infrastructure meets SLA, uptime, and performance objectives.
• Provide leadership during incidents and serve as an escalation point for major outages.
• Any other duties as assigned by management

Minimum Experience
5 years’ experience in server engineering/administration with enterprise-level systems
Experience in managed services or enterprise IT environments is highly advantageous

Minimum Qualification
• Grade 12/ Senior Certificate
• National Diploma in IT; Computer Science or a related discipline

Minimum Certification
• A+
• MCSE, MCSA, or Azure Administrator/ Expert
• ITIL Foundations 

Minimum Requirements
• Valid, unendorsed driver’s license
• Knowledge of IT Infrastructure and operations process
• Implementation and adherence to IT processes and procedures

Skills & Competencies

• Expert knowledge of Windows Server (2019/2022/2025) and Linux systems.
• Strong experience with enterprise virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/Hyper-V).
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud models.
• Deep understanding of networking protocols and integration with server environments.
• Proven experience with backup, recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell).
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and SIEM tools (PRTG, Rapid 7).
• Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity practices, server hardening, and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to manage large-scale infrastructure projects end-to-end.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
