This position offers an exciting opportunity to deepen your technical expertise in database architecture, administration, and performance tuning while contributing directly to the stability and efficiency of key business systems.

You will work collaboratively with application development, infrastructure, and storage teams to manage and optimise both development and production databases across SQL Server Standard and Enterprise editions. Your focus will be to deliver seamless data flow, ensure high system availability, and maintain exceptional performance across all environments — empowering the organisation to operate efficiently and make informed, data-driven decisions.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively monitor database performance and health, resolving issues before they impact business operations.
  • Implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) solutions to protect business-critical data.
  • Optimise queries, indexes, and resource utilisation to deliver fast, consistent performance across applications.
  • Partner with developers, infrastructure, and security teams to design and deploy efficient, secure database solutions.
  • Manage and enforce access controls, roles, and permissions in alignment with security and compliance standards.
  • Automate repetitive administrative tasks through scripting and modern database management tools.
  • Participate in release and deployment processes, ensuring smooth transitions between development and production.
  • Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and migrations while minimising downtime and risk.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for optimisation and innovation.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
