Overview of the role 

The Sales Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing the Sales department, ensuring sales targets and profitability objectives are met through effective team management, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Sales Manager will develop and execute strategies to drive sales growth, manage inventory levels, and maintain cost control, while delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role also involves overseeing the department’s financial performance, training and staffing requirements, and maximizing the sale of additional products. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the Used Vehicles department to meet or exceed sales forecasts and profitability targets. 
  • Develop and manage a high-performing sales team, ensuring adequate staffing levels and training to meet objectives. 
  • Oversee inventory management to ensure optimum stock levels are maintained, in line with company policy. 
  • Implement cost controls and monitor the department’s financial performance to stay within budget. 
  • Review pricing policies, discounts, and trade-in dealings to ensure dealership profitability. 
  • Ensure the timely and effective resolution of customer complaints, maintaining high customer satisfaction and retention. 
  • Drive the sale of back-end products to maximize revenue. 
  • Monitor and enforce the adherence to all relevant vehicle legislation and trade practices. 
  • Manage all floorplan activities, ensuring proper stock levels and financial alignment. 
  • Motivate the sales team to achieve departmental goals and foster a positive, results-driven culture.. 

Education and Experience 

  • A university degree in finance or business is an advantage 
  • 5+ years in a leadership role, including: 
  • 2+ years managing a sales team of 10+ staff 
  • Demonstrated experience in a high-pressure, target-driven environment — preferably in used or new car sales 
  • Track record of hands-on problem-solving and driving business improvement 
  • Calm, professional, and meticulous attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  

Compensation and Benefits 

  • Market Related per year (Provident Fund Included) 
  • Commission Structure in addition  
  • Permanent Contract 

Working Hours 

  • Operational Roles are required to work a six-day (45 hour) week which includes Saturdays  
  • Public holidays will be worked as scheduled (on rotation)
